Su Lab at Queen’s UniversityBelfast (UK) is seeking for an excellent PhD candidate for the  

QUB-China Scholarship CouncilStudentship(CSC) Award application.

The PhD project will investigatethe association between gut bacteria, lipid metabolism and apolipoprotein J(Apo J), and their contribution to the onset of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Specificfocuses will be put on: 1) Determining the alteration of lipid and Apo Jmetabolism in mouse model of AD; 2) Investigating how the gut bacteria regulateintestinal Apo J metabolism and its association with the development of ADusing an ApoJ knockout mouse model.

1. Relevant academic background in lipid metabolism, gut microbiota and neurodegenerativediseases

2. Laboratory experience on molecular techniques and small animal experiments

3. Self-motivation and willing to learn new topics at a fast pace

4. An IELTS score of 6.5 overall with a minimum of 5.5 in eachtest component OR TOEFL internet-based test with overall score of 90 andminimum marks as follows: Listening (17), Reading (18), Speaking (20) andWriting (17). IELTS/TOEFL test must havebeen taken within the past two years.
